Behind the programme
The story and purpose
Introduction
Our foundation recently hosted an impactful webinar titled "Diabetes: The Old and Young," addressing the misconception that age provides immunity against this chronic condition.
The session highlighted the shifting landscape of metabolic health, where Type 2 diabetes is increasingly diagnosed in younger demographics. This virtual gathering served as a vital forum for experts and participants to discuss life-saving preventative measures and management strategies.
Participants were educated on risk factors, early symptoms, and lifestyle habits that contribute to diabetes in both young and older individuals.
Our objective
Demographic Awareness: To clarify the differences between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and explain why both increasingly affect children and adults.
Risk Factor Education: To identify genetic, environmental, and lifestyle triggers that contribute to insulin resistance across different life stages.
Preventative Advocacy: To provide actionable guidance on nutrition and physical activity to mitigate early-onset risks.
Management Support: To offer digital resources for monitoring blood glucose levels and maintaining long-term wellness.
The impact
The virtual format facilitated a dynamic exchange, with a wide bandwidth of participants sharing personal stories from various regions. The live Q&A session revealed a high demand for clarity on early symptoms in children, successfully dismantling the "old person’s disease" stigma in real-time.
Feedback indicated more than 70% increase in participant confidence regarding symptom recognition. By connecting global experts with a wide-reaching audience, the webinar fostered a supportive digital community dedicated to proactive health, proving that education is our strongest tool against the diabetes epidemic.
